When snails go to sleep, they can be asleep for week periods. But, when they want to hibernate, they take an extra long nap that can last for 3-4 years! Amazing huh! Out of a snail's 15 period lifetime, they can be asleep for 3-4 years (20% of their life). Now why do they do this? Snail's need lots of moisture to keep alive. In order to keep the moisture they collect, they hibernate for a long time!
Now snails hibernating for 3-4 years in their short lifetime is equivalent to a human sleeping for 13 years out of -lets say- a 75 year life-span. Imagine if humans hibernated that long.... imagine if we hibernated at all.....

Aren't snails cute? :) (no sarcasm there... I really do think they are cute.... XD)

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING TALKS ABOUT DEAPITATION... BUT TO COCKROACHES

Believe it or not, a cockroach can survive weeks before dying, whereas if a human were decapitated, we would die in a matter of minutes.
Why is that? Well cockroaches are very small. Plus, humans have lots of blood vessels and capillaries... which means we would be prone to bleeding to death and dying from the blood vessels not being supplied with oxygen since the main control center for giving oxygen would be that brain- which is no longer part of the body. Not to mention that since our mouth is on our head which is separated from our body, we can't eat, thus making us die from starvation. Cockroaches don't need that food so starvation would start taking effect after a week!
So that is why Cockroaches can survive for weeks without their heads! So if you catch a cockroach.... don't cut off their heads or else you will be truly doomed!

17th fact: the amount of time a cat sleeps

A cat sleeps about 16-20 hours a day! This means that they sleep for about 66% of their life- which is about 15 to 20 years!

18th fact: The movement of a sloth

A sloth (three-toed) barely moves at all, thus gaining its nickname the lazy animal. However, when a sloth is in panic and needs to run from a predator, it can move at an "astonishingly high speed" of 13 feet a minute.
Due to their curved hands and feet, a sloth moves faster in trees than on land.On trees they move at 9 feet a minute while on land they move at 6.5 feet a minute.
Aside from speed, lets talk about where they stay. They almost always hang effortlessly upside down from trees. They will eat, sleep, and give birth while hanging from a tree! They also come to the ground only once a week to release waste! "How exciting"!

Despite their laziness, I actually think that they are cute... I want them as a pet (no sarcasm there.... don't judge me XD)

Everything we humans do are performed by the use of muscles. Even blinking or breathing uses muscles. You see, unlike blinking, which only takes 3 muscles, taking one single step uses 200 voluntary muscles!
Now to fully comprehend this, you might want to know how many muscles there are in a human body. Now, there is no exact number, but the estimated amount is 640. So you surely do use a lot of your total muscles in your body!

Right before Thomas Edison died in his house in New Jersey, he was asked a question: "Were you once scared of anything?" (Not the exact words but you get the idea). He stated that he was afraid of the dark. Perhaps maybe his fear of the dark is what was the driving force and the source of hi determination to invent a light bulb.

So moral is, if you are scared of something, fix it by inventing an idea to prevent it! ;)

A really cool yet weird fact is that butterflies taste with their feet! Imagine if human had taste sensors where our feet are...
Just so you can picture exactly how they can eat and taste, a picture about the anatomy of a butterfly is below :)

So you know how a human heart in located in your rib cage, between your lungs and in your head? Well in a shrimp's body, their heart is in their head.... imagine if you had your heart in your head *thinks about, then shivers from disgust* ;)

According to many studies and sources, gaming improves eye and hand coordination... So if you play games that require quick and fast moving sequences, your reflexes will be a little faster than the normal person. So that being said, GO PLAY GAMES!!! And play outside too... I hope parents won't blame me for giving you this fact that might encourage you ;)

Our brains are large. In fact, they have an estimated surface area of 1.3 square feet. That is big! Hard to imagine huh?

The average human heart beats about 72 times per minute. That means that it will be at an average of 2.5 billion times in 66 year human life-span. Isn't it crazy how our bodies do this unconsciously. This is some cool stuff!
